The lights on three stretches of motorway in the north-west of England are set to be permanently switched off from March 29th. This is to be a permanent change.
The sections of motorway are on the M58 (between junction 4 and junction 6), M65 (between junction 7 and junction 10) and M66 (between junction 1 and junction 4). The lights will be switched off between midnight and 5am which should save 1,000 tonnes of CO2 a year.
The junctions and approaches are to remain lit.
Derek Turner, Director for the Highways Agency, said “Evidence so far indicates that switching off the lights hasn’t had an impact on safety,”
“Analysis also suggests that driver behaviour does not appear to have been affected in terms of traffic volumes and speed.”
Is this a good move? Will it put lives at risk?

In my opinion its not good move. Thare are many drivers who prefer clear view at night time and these lights provide that.
