A new law, being introduced in Spring, will mean drivers must keep their car insured unless they have declared it off the road. This means that even if you keep your car locked away for periods of time, even if you’re not using it, you must have car insurance.
That is the outcome of new legislation to combat uninsured driving and the resulting increased premiums for honest motorists.
DVLA corporate affairs director, David Evans, said: “It is vitally important that motorists understand the change and how it will impact on them.”
