On The Spot Fines for Careless Drivers

Drivers, who are deemed to be driving carelessly, could receive a £100 on the spot fine for their actions as part of a government strategy to make Britain’s roads safe.

Motorists who tailgate, undertake or cut up others may get an immediate penalty rather than being taken to court in a bid to create a more efficient system.

A DfT spokesman said: “The strategy will focus on cracking down on the really reckless drivers through more efficient enforcement.

“By giving the police the tools to deal with those who present the greatest danger to others we can make our roads even safer.

“While seeking to do everything possible to tackle the most dangerous drivers, the strategy will also help the responsible majority to improve their driving.

“This is the government’s twin approach to improving road safety.”

This sounds really good law , but if it is such a good law why has it taken so long to implement?
The truch is its going to have very little impact, because can already charge you for these offences. The only difference is that the offenders will be fined quicker, because under the old system the fine is imposed by court which can take up 3weeks.

  2. It is good initiative and lets hope it will be successful and lead to safer roads

  3. Its good move to make drivers realise their mistake immediately, but fine enforcement will not be easy as it does not take into account drivers financial status.
