Drink Drive Campaign Begins

Many people wouldn’t think about drink driving but during the festive period when there are numerous friend, office and family events involving alcohol it becomes easy to make a wrong choice, a mistake at the end of the night. In some cases drivers are caught out being over the limit the morning after a night out when they thought they were safe.

Even those who think they may be doing the right thing by sleeping in their car after a night out can still be charged with being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle, an offence that can carry a ban.

It’s a mistake that can have life changing consequences and both yourself and your family and friends such as: –

  • Loss of driving licence (for over 2 years in some cases)
  • Loss of your job
  • Disrupted social life
  • Insurance increases
  • Imprisonment in serious cases

As part of the campaigns you can expect to see increased roadside checks in the evenings, at night and early mornings throughout December and January.
